I recently got contacted by the lovely Amy Hirt to take part of the ModCloth Uniquely You challenge on Polyvore. Of course I said yes ! They gave me one required item from their current store collection and my role was to style it my way using up to seven other stylish pieces currently sold on their website. This week's mandatory item was the Shoreline Memories Dress. To me, this piece screams the movie "The Young Girls of Rochefort", starring Catherine Deveuve and Françoise Dorléac. I instantly got inspired by the A-line shape, the pop of dark yellow and the grid pattern. The hole aspect of this dress really translate that movie to me. As it's quite a retro piece, I of course wanted to stay true to my personal style by adding a slightly more modern touch to it. As a general fact I love playing around with vintage and more modern pieces. It's all about finding the right balance and not overdoing it. You wouldn't think of it but this piece is very versatile and adaptable to anyone.
I choose to style this dress with : Infuse Some Edge Jacket, Humming Home Watch, Just Drop By Earrings, Tech it Out Sunglasses in White, Sweet Structure Clutch, Runway To Reality Heel in Silver
Modcloth definitely has a variety of cute dresses for any type of occasions. You might have realized by now my love for checkered and grid prints. I love the timeless simplicity of this design/print, it suits everyone and is definitely here to stay. I actually found a personal favorite on their website. The cut-outs make it very spring and summer appropriate and the sheath silhouette definitely translate the signature Modcloth retro vibe.
